BrainTrainers, located in Ann Arbor, is a holistic therapeutic day program for brain injury neuropsychological rehabilitation, and has been in existence since January 2000. It is based on a time-and-outcome proven model originally developed at New York University Medical Center, and is the only neuropsychological rehabilitation program of its type in the Great Lakes Region.
BrainTrainers accepts 6 - 8 clients for semester-based treatment twice per year, beginning in January and in July. Treatment sessions last 21 weeks, and are proceeded by an intensive pre-injury admissions evaluation, as well as a post-program assessment week.
Referrals are accepted throughout the year, and clients are admitted on a rolling-admissions basis, although they must wait until the next semester begins to commence treatment once placed on the waiting list. On selected occasions, individual treatment might be provided on an hourly basis for clients awaiting treatment in the coming treatment semester. Pre-admission testing is urged as early in the process as possible, as semesters do fill up and there is normally a waiting list for each semester.
The staff is comprised or Dr. Ronald Baumanis, Ph.D., Lori Miller, OTR, Ronald Miller, OTR, and Cindy Paxton, OTR.
